About Pirton JoyCare
Pirton JoyCare was founded in 1997 as a result of a legacy bequeathed by the late Joy Franklin. Joy was born in Pirton and lived here for most of her life. She left the legacy to be used to “benefit the older residents of Pirton village”.
Consultation was undertaken and it was agreed to use the legacy to arrange activities, trips and meals out for Pirton residents aged 60 and over.
JoyCare funds are managed by a Board of Trustees (see Policies and Governance page). Since JoyCare’s inception in 1997, the original legacy has been supplemented by grant applications and further legacies. Fundraising is also important to maintain the number of activities we can continue to offer to members.
In August 2001 JoyCare was granted charitable status. This has various advantages and ensures that the Board of Trustees adheres to the aims and objectives of the charity.
We currently organise monthly outings in our mini bus as well as a monthly pub lunch. We have occasional outings to places of interest and support a six-weekly chiropody clinic in the Village Hall. We sponsor a Good Neighbour Scheme which primarily helps with transport to medical appointments and offers administrative support to complete forms such as Blue Badge applications.
These activities are either wholly or part-funded by JoyCare. All Pirton residents aged 60 and above are automatically invited to participate in any of our activities. Please look at our “Services” below or the Events and Meetings Calendar for more information.

Donations & Visits
Donations & Gift Aid
We are a self funding charity and accept donations with gratitude. We operate the Gift Aid scheme so that if a donor pays tax and gives us their name and address, we can reclaim tax paid. We can give you more information on this scheme if you contact us. Donations for GNS Services
All home visits are free but we ask for a donation towards drivers’ expenses for any transport needs. See Good Neighbour Scheme page for details.
