We introduced a good neighbour scheme in 2009 to help those who do not have family or friends nearby. We help with home visits but most of our work is offering transport to medical and hospital appointments, collecting shopping and prescriptions etc.

We have 9 coordinators running the scheme and about 30 volunteers who are on call for transport, helping or visiting at home. We accept donations towards drivers’ expenses, dependant upon the length of the journey. For example a return journey to nearby Hitchin would be £4.00.
