Good Neighbour Scheme

Offering transport to those in need in our village

Good Neighbour Scheme

The primary aim of the Good Neighbour Scheme is to offer help with transport to medical and hospital appointments.  A team of Coordinators can be contacted via the JoyCare mobile phone 07948 817835 between 8am and 8pm each day.  A larger team of volunteers are on call to provide the transport.

Please give as much notice as possible for any transport requests to allow the Coordinators time to find a volunteer.  We accept donations towards drivers’ expenses.  Suggested donations are as follows: Hitchin £5, Stevenage £8, Welwyn £14.  Other destinations can be discussed with the Coordinator.

The Good Neighbour Scheme also offers administrative support to help with filling in official forms such as Blue Badge applications.  The Coordinators will try to arrange a home visit from one of our volunteers who has the suitable skills to help with the request.

All our Coordinators and volunteers are DBS checked and trained in safeguarding procedures.
